Being a British-Italian growing up in Switzerland, the mash-up flows basically in my veins. My art is a Cosmic Marmelade, a mix of painting, video, animation, poetry, funk music and performance. I translate fragments of literature, eastern philosophy, mythology and popular culture and place them into a contemporary context. Rearranging and transforming them, I create and tell new stories.
My films and animations are multimedial mashups, made with simple technical means. To produce them, I work with diverse techniques like traditional animation, paper-cut stop motion, puppets or the use of masks. Painting, drawing and filming intermingle in my artistic practice reflecting my interests in traditional art from Asia and the Americas.
At the moment my main interest is to explore new ways to perform the act of storytelling. I look for all kinds of stories, myths, songs or rituals everywhere, using them as the material form my work. Flowing into my paintings, I reflect them and try to understand, what they tell us now. As an art educator, influenced by redical pedagogy, I would also like to do this in collaboration with different people, creating communal works, where different talents are brought together and everybody learns from each other.
